The ISBER Biospecimen Science Working Group has developed a SPREC that identifies and records the main pre-analytical factors that may have impact on the integrity of sampled clinical fluids and solid biospecimens and their simple derivatives during collection, processing and storage, “Standard PREanalytical Code Version 3.0″ by Betsou et. al.
The SPREC package covers both fluid and solid samples, defining the sample and primary container type, periods of cold and warm ischemia, centrifugation, and storage.
The SPREC package is a useful addition to the “Biobank” package which automates the tracking of the events from sample collection to storage as much as possible, utilizing aliquoting and centrifugation procedures.
Note: If the Biobank package was installed before the SPREC package, please contact your SLIMS administrator for the installation of this package.
